What does EMA do?
CEMA works with many groups and agencies to fulfill its mission to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, recover from, and prevent disasters in the Village of Congerville and surrounding areas. Below is a list of some of the activities that EMA does.
Severe Weather Storm Spotting - we deploy into the field when there is severe weather to be eyes on the ground for the National Weather Service (NWS). The Lincoln radar beam at the lowest tilt (0.5 degrees) is about 2100 feet above sea level. The NWS can't see what is below 2100 feet and need eyes on the ground to help confirm/report severe weather.
Assist with Search & Rescue - we would deploy when requested to assist Woodford County EMA Search & Rescue Team with any missing persons.
Assist with Traffic Control - we would deploy to assist other local agencies with traffic control when requested.
Community Preparedness - work with the Village of Congerville to create plans in the event of a disaster and also work with the community to educate and plan for disasters that may impact our community.
Communications Plans - create communication plans for different disasters and have the capabilities to perform these plans in the event of a disaster.
